Privacy-first Jyotish app: profiles and charts are processed on your PC or phone, not stored on Samaya servers.
1. Introduction
Samaya (“the App”) is a Vedic astrology application for birth charts (kundlis), panchang, compatibility, forecasts, and related tools. It is available as a Windows desktop app (installer from sharadkhare.in/product/samaya/) and an Android app (com.samaya.app). This policy explains what information the App handles on either platform, how it is used, and your choices.
Samaya is designed to work primarily on your device. There is no user login, and we do not operate cloud servers to store your kundlis.

2. Information the App handles
2.1 Information you provide

2.2 Stored on your device
Saved kundlis, settings, and related data are stored locally on your PC or phone (on-device database or local app data folder). This remains on your device unless you export, share, or back it up.
2.3 What we do not collect
We do not:
- Require an account
- Collect email or payment details in the App
- Use advertising or analytics SDKs that send your kundli data to us
- Access GPS or real-time precise location (you choose cities from a built-in list)
- Upload your birth data to Samaya servers for storage
3. How we use information
We use your information only to:
- Calculate and display charts, panchang, dasha, transits, compatibility, numerology, and readings
- Save kundlis and preferences on your device
- Generate PDFs and summaries you request
- Schedule local reminders (e.g. Ekadashi/vrata) if you enable them
App content is educational and informational, not medical, legal, or financial advice.
4. Where data is stored

Uninstalling the App (via Windows Settings or your device’s app manager on Android) typically removes local app data unless your system or device backup retains it.
5. Sharing and export
You may export or share kundlis (JSON), PDF reports, chart images, or text via features you initiate. Recipients and third-party services you choose are governed by their policies.
The App may open external links (e.g. developer website or LinkedIn) in your browser when you tap them.
6. Permissions
Permissions differ by platform but serve the same purposes — optional reminders and saving or opening files you choose to export or import.

The App does not request contacts, microphone, camera, or GPS for core features on either platform.
7. Notifications
On Android, if enabled in Settings, the App schedules local notifications from your default city’s coordinates. This is done on your device; we do not receive your reminder schedule on our servers. The Windows desktop app does not use push notifications from our servers.
8. Children’s privacy
Samaya is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s data. Delete profiles in the App or uninstall if needed.
9. Retention and deletion
- Kundlis: Until you delete them in the App or uninstall Samaya from Windows or Android
- Exports: Wherever you save them on your PC or device
Delete profiles in the Kundli list or chart screen, reset settings in the App, or uninstall Samaya via Windows Settings or your Android app manager.
10. Security
Data is stored on your device. You are responsible for device security and any files you export or share.
11. International users
Data is processed primarily on your device. Export/share actions may transfer data to services you select.
12. Changes
We may update this policy and change the “Last updated” date at https://www.sharadkhare.in/policies/privacy/. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
13. Your rights
